Money 101: How to save money

We are going to start a series called Money 101 and It will feature different ways on how to be smart with your money while still enjoying the beautiful things in life.

We want to start this series with a few ways on how to save and spend your money wisely. Remember no matter how small you save, it will all add up in the end. This will not only help you save but it will also teach you how to manage your own money. Here are some tips.

  •  Keep Track of your Cash Activity

Do you keep all your receipts from all your spending?. I want you to start collecting them. Get a little container and put every one of them in there, towards the end of the month add them all up and document it all in a notebook or if you know how to use Microsoft Excel even better. Looking into that list, do you think that you’re spending your money on things that you really need? Do the same thing again for the coming months, gather all your receipts and this time cut some of your spending and only spend it on things that you truly need and compare that with your previous months number.

  •  Monthly Spending Budget

Now that you’ve made yourself aware of your spending habits. Having a monthly budget is the next step. Make a list of things that are necessary to your daily life, things that you absolutely can’t live without. Calculate your monthly salary minus your priority spending list and see how much you end up with. How much you want to save is up to you. It’s just important to be aware of those spending habits and to be able to manage them wisely..

  •  Pack Lunch for Work

How much do you spend on restaurants everyday? Most of us are spending $10 a day in restaurants on average. If you do that every day for a whole entire month, you will end up spending $300 when you could spend that money on something a lot more important.

Packing your own lunch will save you a lot of money. $300 a month adds up to $3600 a year. Those little things can add up. So start packing lunch and start saving.

  •  Compare Prices

Nowadays its a lot easier to compare prices because of our technology. Before you head outside check the internet for places that offers you the best deals and check them out. Its really just being aware of that information and using that to your advantage.

  • Take Advantage of Coupons

Have you aver heard of extreme couponing? Apparently its a thing now, where you only spend your money on things that are available in coupons. If your family spends a lot in grocery shopping this will help you save even more. You can get coupons online and you can print them out too. Find out what works for you and see how much you can save.

Here’s some of the website that you can get coupons from:

Those are a few tips on how you can save your money and also discipline on your spending habits. Updates on Money 101 will be posted on Iriz’s Corner every week.
