Purdy’s Chocolatier offers perfect gifts this Holiday Season, boasts #1 Chocolatier in Canada

DSC_9747Cruising around Square One Mall looking for the perfect gift, I stumbled upon Purdy’s Chocolatier. I was intrigued by their chocolate fountain placed in front of the store, so I approached and to my surprise found an abundance of chocolate of different kinds. The variety of chocolate that could be found in one store is just breath taking. They have a menu that lists all the chocolates in case you have questions.

DSC_9746The feature that really struck me the most about the store was their ready made gifts composed of different combinations of chocolates. For someone like me who doesn’t know how to wrap gifts, it is really a blessing. There are so many different combinations of chocolates in different styles of gift wrapping, the possibilities are endless.

Top 10 reasons to love the Holidays

Christmas and the holidays are the season of giving. It’s a time when people are more kind and open-hearted. Read more at brainyquote

Since the holidays is just around the corner, I decided to list the top 10 things I love about the Holidays. Its my favourite time of the year. It brings people closer together and it promotes sacrificing something for the joy of others. Its an overall a feel good experience.

These are my personal favourite. Let me know what you think.

#1. Gifts

DSC_0507

Its not a surprise that Gifts is at the top of the list. Who doesn’t like receiving gifts?. I know I do. It just brings me joy, not because of the gift itself, but really just grateful to the person. For me, the thought that goes into it is the most important thing. I personally don’t care about how much the person spent on it, Unless its really really expensive. Its the thought that counts people.

#2. Food

DSC_0500

YES, FOOD! Its second to my list. Its the ultimate cheat month. Since Christmas is my family’s most celebrated event of the year. The amount of food is insane. The varieties of food is amazing and its always different every year. For us living north of the border, we have boxing day after Christmas. The morning of boxing day when you wake up, is the best feeling, “left over food never tasted better “. That’s why most people pack lbs. during this season.

#3. Shopping

DSC_0213

Shopping! Shopping! and more Shopping! Its the time where people grind it out at work. Getting over time hours to cope with their spending. We spend more in a week, compared to what we’ve spent in a year total. I think for some people, it’s their way of rewarding themselves.

#4. Christmas parties

10743693_10152807826212170_139265220_nChristmas Parties! For my family and friends, its been our tradition to have a Christmas party every year. Its a time where we get together and have dinner. We also do secret santas every year. It makes things a lot more interesting and also you save a lot of money that way since you don’t have to get every single one of them a gift.

#5. Relatives away from home

Most of us have relatives away from home. Our grandmother visited us last year from California. It was really nice to see her again after a long time. Its been a while since I’ve last seen her. There’s just no better feeling than spending time with your loved ones. It brings us closer together. Its also a great time to catch up and share stories with them.

#6. Time off from work

DSCN1658

YES it is! A couple of days off work is enough to be part of the top 10. It doesn’t need any explanation. More quality time with family and friends for sure.

#7. Christmas Jingles

If you’re living in Toronto, tune in to 98.1. They play Christmas music all day throughout the season. It instantly puts you in the mood for the holidays.

#8. Holiday Ambiance

I don’t know what it is about this season. It just puts you in a good mood. It could be the atmosphere, or the air we breathe. Its the feeling overall for me.

#9. Snow Snow Snow

We associate snow with a lot of activities. Tobogganing is my favourite.  Going down the hill with my makeshift sled made of boxes is the best. You just have to put on more layers to actually enjoy playing outside in the snow.

#10. Midnight Mass

Catholic Christians has a unique way of celebrating Christmas. We attend a series of Church masses every night from the 16th of December to Christmas eve. Most of us believe that if you attend all of it, your wish would come true.  It is also meant to show devotion to God and heightened anticipation for Christ’s birth. Its a tradition.

Cocoa Farmers Tasted Chocolate For The First Time

Take a moment to reflect on the issue presented in the video.

These people harvest cocoa for a living, and yet they never tasted chocolate. Its ironic, they have been harvesting cocoa for generations, but they couldn’t buy a bar of chocolate.

This video made me think of the things that I normally take for granted.

We are so used to living a lavish life that we completely ignore these facts.

Keep in mind that there are people that would do anything to have what you have, while you waste away your life.

The only thing I’m saying is that, We are blessed to have a family, to have a roof over our heads, and to be able to do the things that we love and more.

Have a sense of awareness and be grateful for what you have.

Before anything else I would like to share a little history about how jollibee came about.

Jollibee was founded in January 28, 1978 in Quezon City, Philippines by Tony Tan the President and CEO of Jollibee Foods Corporation. They have 2,700 stores worldwide including: Brunei (launched 1987), Hong Kong (launched September 1996), Indonesia (to be launched 2015), Kuwait (launched 1995), Malaysia (to be launched 2015), Philippines (main hub), QatarSaudi Arabia (launched 1995), Singapore (launched 2013), Vietnam (launched October 1996), United States (launched 1998), and Canada (to be launched 2015).

Aloha burger from jollibee

This pineapple topped burger helped make jollibee become the largest food chain in the Philippines. It is absolutely to die for, I mean, who doesn’t like pineapples? I could only speak for myself, when I say I’ve been craving these for years and finally its coming to my city. Jollibee waited 15 years to cross north of the border after having opened its first establishment in the U.S.

Lovell Sarreal, an analyst from Maybank covering Jollibee Philippines says:

the company’s return to conservative but steady expansion is good for investors. U.S. operations are now profitable, accounting for about 5% of Jollibee’s total sales.

“Eventually growth in the Philippines will slow down, and to sustain the high growth of the company, you have to expand overseas,”.

The company has been focusing on opening stores where filipinos are, It is simply a taste of home. Now don’t get confused, if you aren’t filipino and you enjoy a good burger fries and ice cream, this joint is also for you. There is nothing exotic about jollibee, its just good old fashioned burger with a little twist.

There is no exact opening date mentioned anywhere, but Ill keep everyone updated if anything comes up.
