Chat with WordPress.com: “Sorry… Whats FPd?”

I want to speak my mind today. There’s a lot of things going through my mind right now like, “How do I get more traffic in my website”, is one of the many things that keeps me up at night. But this problem was different. The only way to solve it was time. Most successful bloggers say that it may take up to a year to build a significant amount of traffic into your website. I thought to myself, “Am I capable of waiting that long?, are there some other ways of doing it without having to wait that long?”

I spent my last week asking Google about ways on how to increase traffic to my website. And I stumbled upon a post that talks about going viral on wanting to give up. She was talking about something called Freshly Pressed. I was new to the whole blogging scene and I didn’t know what freshly pressed was until then. So I did a little research, I compare being freshly pressed to a college athlete getting drafted by a professional team. Its basically the opportunity of a lifetime for a newbie blogger. Its that same kind of feeling. You get exposed to the world and you get instant followers. You may also bump into a few haters. So what?, Any publicity is better than no publicity at all. Here’s the catch, The Staff hand picks 8 new blog posts out of thousands to be highlighted on the freshly pressed section of WordPress.com . I thought to myself, “that’s the solution to my ever growing dilemma”.

I was brwosing through my websites Dashboard, then all of a sudden a small window popped up. It was the Chat representative from wordpress.com. I thought maybe I should get his opinion on adding wordads on my website. And so I asked, “How much traffic do I need before I could get invited for WordAds ?”. This was the conversation.

Staff I think the amount and quality of content you have will probably be more important.
route905 Ok I understand.
route905 I wish to be FPd someday
Staff Sorry…what’s FPd?
route905 Freshly pressed
Staff Oh, I should have known that. 😉
Staff It really is an excellent way to gain exposure, so I hope you pursue it. 🙂
route905 I will. One of these days. Thank you for your help.
Staff Sure thing, and good luck!

Freshly F****ing Pressed! We’re all thinking the same thing and we all want it. Its the ultimate short cut to gaining more traffic into our website. It’s a newbie bloggers dream come true that someday their blog would be FPd. I hope to be FPd someday. Easier said than done.

How women size you up, Gentlemen

First Impressions last

Early this morning, I was brainstorming for my next blog post while listening to the Radio(“the John Tesh Radio Show”). There was this topic that really caught my attention. John was talking about, “how women would size you up in 5 seconds guaranteed”. He just listed the factors, but didn’t elaborate. I thought I should discuss those factors in further detail.

As guys, we all know that women makes snap judgements about us all the time. Its been like that since the beginning of time, its a given. And to some of us, it may not be a surprise any more. We’re so used to it, we sometimes unconsciously act the way she wants us to. Notice yourself when you’re with your friends, now compare that when you’re with her. Exactly, that’s why people say that you can’t really tell that you know someone, until you actually lived with them. But until then, you can follow these to help you get that good first impression.

This best applies to guys that had been living on their own, and has their own place.

(This isn’t arranged in any order)

Books

DSC_0548 (2) Yes books! Experts says, that women would associate no books with no brains. You have to have books in your apartment. Even if you don’t read, if you really want that good first impression, then set up that little library. It wouldn’t cost you much, you can always just salvage any old bookshelf from your old house or get one in goodwill, do whatever. Just get one.

Bathroom

DSC_0560 (2)

A Clean bathroom! Having a dirty bathroom tells a girl that you have very poor hygiene. Who wants to have that as a First impression? If you know she’s coming over, then make time to clean your bathroom prior to her visit. This is arguably the most important factor in the list. Do it!

Food

DSC_0572 (2)

Mhm this is always on the list. A stocked kitchen with cook books, utensils, healthy food in the fridge, will tell a girl that you can actually fend for yourself. That’s one of the most important things to know, she would think that you could possibly take care of her too. Mac and Cheese is awesome though, not going to lie.

Pets

DSC_0594 (2)

Your pets could actually help you get a girl. Now that’s something I never heard about. Anything that can be nurtured, factors into this, like Cats, Dogs, and even plants. This means that you are capable of taking care of other things other than yourself. Get yourself a dog, walk it out and watch it do its magic. trust it will work!

Big screen TV & Gaming Consoles

DSC_0596 (2)

I totally disagree on this one. Especially, when everyone has it at home. Not having an Entertainment set up is blasphemy. But Experts says that Having a Big Screen TV and gaming console in your house, tells a girl that you have too much time in your hands and immature. hmm. That’s true in many ways, but also wrong. Its true because it does give out a vibe that you play video games most of your spare time, and also wrong because nowadays consoles have many other uses other than gaming, watching movies for one. I mean, that’s my opinion. If anything, just tell her that you only use your gaming console for watching movies, but you don’t want to seem defensive too.

Top 10 reasons to love the Holidays

Christmas and the holidays are the season of giving. It’s a time when people are more kind and open-hearted. Read more at brainyquote

Since the holidays is just around the corner, I decided to list the top 10 things I love about the Holidays. Its my favourite time of the year. It brings people closer together and it promotes sacrificing something for the joy of others. Its an overall a feel good experience.

These are my personal favourite. Let me know what you think.

#1. Gifts

DSC_0507

Its not a surprise that Gifts is at the top of the list. Who doesn’t like receiving gifts?. I know I do. It just brings me joy, not because of the gift itself, but really just grateful to the person. For me, the thought that goes into it is the most important thing. I personally don’t care about how much the person spent on it, Unless its really really expensive. Its the thought that counts people.

#2. Food

DSC_0500

YES, FOOD! Its second to my list. Its the ultimate cheat month. Since Christmas is my family’s most celebrated event of the year. The amount of food is insane. The varieties of food is amazing and its always different every year. For us living north of the border, we have boxing day after Christmas. The morning of boxing day when you wake up, is the best feeling, “left over food never tasted better “. That’s why most people pack lbs. during this season.

#3. Shopping

DSC_0213

Shopping! Shopping! and more Shopping! Its the time where people grind it out at work. Getting over time hours to cope with their spending. We spend more in a week, compared to what we’ve spent in a year total. I think for some people, it’s their way of rewarding themselves.

#4. Christmas parties

10743693_10152807826212170_139265220_nChristmas Parties! For my family and friends, its been our tradition to have a Christmas party every year. Its a time where we get together and have dinner. We also do secret santas every year. It makes things a lot more interesting and also you save a lot of money that way since you don’t have to get every single one of them a gift.

#5. Relatives away from home

DSCN1624

Most of us have relatives away from home. Our grandmother visited us last year from California. It was really nice to see her again after a long time. Its been a while since I’ve last seen her. There’s just no better feeling than spending time with your loved ones. It brings us closer together. Its also a great time to catch up and share stories with them.

#6. Time off from work

DSCN1658

YES it is! A couple of days off work is enough to be part of the top 10. It doesn’t need any explanation. More quality time with family and friends for sure.

#7. Christmas Jingles

DSC_0546

If you’re living in Toronto, tune in to 98.1. They play Christmas music all day throughout the season. It instantly puts you in the mood for the holidays.

#8. Holiday Ambiance

DSC_0527

I don’t know what it is about this season. It just puts you in a good mood. It could be the atmosphere, or the air we breathe. Its the feeling overall for me.

#9. Snow Snow Snow

DSC_0512

We associate snow with a lot of activities. Tobogganing is my favourite.  Going down the hill with my makeshift sled made of boxes is the best. You just have to put on more layers to actually enjoy playing outside in the snow.

#10. Midnight Mass

Catholic Christians has a unique way of celebrating Christmas. We attend a series of Church masses every night from the 16th of December to Christmas eve. Most of us believe that if you attend all of it, your wish would come true.  It is also meant to show devotion to God and heightened anticipation for Christ’s birth. Its a tradition.

Relationship 101: who controls your relationship?

adasd

The person who cares the least, Controls the relationship.

We all thought about this situation and we have it at the back of our minds, but we don’t talk about it. It is not something that couples talk about. You may be doing it already, you just haven’t realized it. It might also be working out to your advantage, but not all people have the same way of thinking. It also can be a complete disaster movie. (This only applies to serious relationships)

What I’m saying is, people react differently. Some might be OK with it and some might be completely offended by it. Some relationships are unconsciously doing it, and it might be working out for them.

My theory is that, successful couples has the right amount of care between the both of them, which created balance in their universe.

In my opinion, it doesn’t need to be equal, you just have to analyze your situation and figure out what works out for the both of you. I mean, Its really just finding the right combinations.

Now to answer the question, Yes its true and will continue to be. Its not always a bad thing, again if it works for your relationship and it creates balance, then it must be doing something right.

Now, it doesn’t mean you don’t care at all, that’s different. It just means that you’re opening up some space for your partner to fill up. It sometimes the other way around, your partner may have some space for you to fill up. Key is don’t go over that limit, Just fill up whatever needs to be filled and stay within it. Some people tend to be overwhelming and most of the time their partners feel that they are obligated to match it. They will feel pressured and sometimes confused, which can lead to a breakup.

You may agree or disagree with this point of view. Keep in mind that this is just the technical side of things. Relationships are complicated that way. There are a lot of areas to be covered when it comes to this. Its just really a matter of perspective. We all think differently in different situations. This is just for those people who needs an answer to, “why things are the way they are?”. I hope to have covered that area.

Life experiences predicts the future

experiences-1

Think of yourself as an empty box, and every time you experience something, you add it into that box.

That’s how life works. Our personality today is the collection of the experiences generated through the years that we’ve been here.

Those experiences are available to us whenever we need to make a decision in life. Through past experiences, we can assess the situation and make the right decisions based upon the experiences you’ve gained in the past.

(Now if you’ve never had experienced anything like it before, I would suggest that you learn from others who have, do not make a decision on your own).

This rule applies to anything in life, whether be work related, family, or relationships. It is best to be absolutely sure than learn it the hard way.

Employers tend to lean towards candidates that has vast amounts of experience in the field, versus a candidate who is fresh out of Stanford with academic achievements. I mean its an obvious choice, (and again that choice is based upon the employers own experience or knowledge gained from other sources).

two 3d humans give their hand for handshake

Theory learned in school doesn’t always translate well into practice. Its a no brainer for most of us, but how would you explain it?. Its simple,

“the candidate with a lot of experience was exposed to a significant number of decision making scenarios in the past”.

which ultimately brings us to experienced gained, and more experience means that if ever presented with the same scenario in the future, you are more likely to make the right decision..

Relationships also require smart decision making. It only differs from the amount of factors that comes into play when talking about relationships. But the decision making itself requires experience.

When it comes to relationships, we tend to shut off the rest of the world.

When I was growing up, I never listened to anyone but myself, I wanted to make my own decisions. I was stubborn, I had to learn the hard way.

There was never a short cut when it comes to relationships, its just complicated that way. But through all those experiences, I have learned that to do the right things and say the right things are the foundations of a strong relationship. That is were experience come into play. You may have said the wrong things before, but you can use that knowledge in the future, so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

There are two kinds of people, There are people who make mistakes and correct them along the way, and there are people who are well equipped with knowledge from other peoples past experiences and try to learn from it before it happens. I’d like to think that I am the well equipped kind of person

smart people learn from others mistake

It’s true, and it goes with the quote, “History repeats itself”, and sometimes it does. That is why Do’s and Don’ts came along, That information is based on other peoples life experiences and they have worked in the past. It is best to be aware than go about it blindfolded.

As we we’re growing up, we develop our knowledge through everyday experiences. Our personality was built from It and moulded us into what we are today.

Left-Handers in a Right-Handers world

sadqdq

There are only ten percent of left-handers in the world.

They wake up every morning, in a world built for right-handers.

It is quite the challenge.

There are simple things that right-handers take for granted, from scissors to guitars to cellphones, these are difficult to manage when you are left-handed.

Being left-handed seem cool, it is something that sets you apart from others. It may not be a bad thing, here are some facts: Studies in US, UK and Australia

Left-handers’ brains are structured differently from right-handers’ in ways that can allow them to process language, spatial relations and emotions in more diverse and potentially creative ways. Also, a slightly larger number of left-handers than right-handers are especially gifted in music and math. A study of musicians in professional orchestras found a significantly greater proportion of talented left-handers, even among those who played instruments that seem designed for right-handers, such as violins. Similarly, studies of adolescents who took tests to assess mathematical giftedness found many more left-handers in the population.

For all of the Left-handers out there, just so you know, August 13th is left-handers day. Belated happy left-handers to you all left-handers.

Cocoa Farmers Tasted Chocolate For The First Time

Take a moment to reflect on the issue presented in the video.

These people harvest cocoa for a living, and yet they never tasted chocolate. Its ironic, they have been harvesting cocoa for generations, but they couldn’t buy a bar of chocolate.

This video made me think of the things that I normally take for granted.

We are so used to living a lavish life that we completely ignore these facts.

Keep in mind that there are people that would do anything to have what you have, while you waste away your life.

The only thing I’m saying is that, We are blessed to have a family, to have a roof over our heads, and to be able to do the things that we love and more.

Have a sense of awareness and be grateful for what you have.

Parenting 101 : Trust granted not earned

ParentingSS-Post

What brought you to this article? Is it because you want to know if you’re making the right choices as a parent? or are you a soon to be parent?. Well whatever that is, you came here because you were curious. You wanted to increase your knowledge on something that you truly care about. Have you ever asked yourself,

Does my behaviour affect my children’s attitude?,

Am I being over protective?.

These are the questions that we will try to answer as we go along.

Does my behaviour affect my children’s attitude? The only way to answer that question is to put yourself in their situation.

When I was a child growing up. I never liked it when my parents never trusted me with anything. I could never understand why. It just never made sense to me. I was a good child. I always followed the rules.

Parenting frustration

There’s this famous saying,

” trust is not given, it is earned”.

I know most of us would buy into that, and part of it is true. But I believe that starting to build trust with your child at an early age is the right choice. let me explain.

Parents are responsible for building a good trust system between you and your child.

A good example would be my friend, lets call her Dona. Donas parents are very over protective of her. She never did anything wrong. She had a curfew at 6pm. She could never go out with her boyfriend late without having her sister come along. She knows that they are not doing anything wrong and that her parents are being unreasonable She felt like she had no choice but to lie to her parents so that they can be together.

That’s one of the reasons why we lie, and the reason why most children treated that way ends up being rebellious.

Now if you were to trust your child, make them feel that you trust them. You would get a totally different result.

parenting

I, myself, would never do anything to break a trust. I value trust more than anything. I would be foolish to break a trust given to me without having to earn them. I think that would be a child’s initial reaction. That is why trusting them early is very important. Its putting them in the right direction.
